Wakatime - record time spent coding automatically

David Carr

Development Tools

For quite sometime I’ve been using wakatime, a tool that integrates with lots of IDE’s and Editors to automatically track time you’ve actually spend programming. What’s really nice is you don’t notice it but when logging on to the Wakatime website you can see your states, and see how you compare to the rest of your team or the wider community.

In the last 7 Wakatime has recorded 31 hours in the last 7 days, but that's time spent writing code, time spent on projects, planning, organizing researching etc would be much higher. Still it’s an interesting metric to have which involves no more then simply installing a plugin into your editor and off you go!
